Tuesday 8th July, 2008

Medical tourism is receiving a boost in the UAE which is expected to attract 11.2 million healthcare tourists by the year 2010.

The focus is on Dubai Healthcare City, a multi- billion dollar project that encompasses many international medical facilities.

With medical tourism a booming industry worldwide, Dubai is implementing infrastructure projects to attract top clinicians.

According to reports, the lack of lengthy procedures is one of the reasons patients prefer to be treated in Dubai.

The comparatively low cost of treatments and the variety of medical services offered also add to the attraction.

There is great demand for services, such as dermatology, cosmetics, plastic surgery and ophthalmology.

Dubai in push to attract medical tourists

This article is a bit hard to swallowisn’t it? 11.2 million tourists by the year 2010? That’s almost 1 million tourist a month. Where would they house all these people? Even Thailand, the medical tourism leader in Asia is only projecting about 2 - 2.5 million a year by 2010 and thats the maximum before they plateau.
