Singapore buys in to new Lockheed plane
UAE News.Net Tuesday 8th July, 2008
Singapore is the latest country to show interest in buying one hundred of Lockheed Martin’s F-35 Joint Strike Fighter aircraft.
Development of the F-35 is being co-financed by Britain, Italy, the Netherlands, Turkey, Canada, Australia, Denmark and Norway.
The eight countries that have joined the United States in co-developing the plane are expected to buy some 730 of the aircraft and had been hoping for interest from other countries.
The new planes have been designed to replace a range of fighters, including Lockheed F-16s and Boeing’s F-18s.
