US judge orders fast-track on Guantanamo cases
UAE News.Net Tuesday 8th July, 2008
A US federal judge has ordered the Justice Department to delay all other cases while it is involved with overseeing Guantanamo Bay lawsuits.
Judge Thomas Hogan, during the first hearing over whether the detainees are being held lawfully, ordered the other cases to be set aside and said that after nearly seven years of detention, the detainees must have their day in court.
Judge Hogan is coordinating most of the estimated 200 Guantanamo Bay cases on behalf of most of the Washington federal judges.
He will now decide how quickly the Justice Department must turn over the evidence against the detainees.
The Justice Department has fought for years to keep civilian judges from reviewing evidence against terrorism suspects.
But a Supreme Court ruling last month opened the courthouse doors to the detainees.
Defence lawyers have long been asking federal judges to scrutinise evidence against the detainees, saying they should not be held indefinitely, simply at the whim of the government.
There are about 270 detainees being held at the US naval base at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

Most of the Detainee’s are innocent and where just grabbed by the (northern alliance for hard cash no questions asked.
It was found that alot of the time the northern alliance was attacking american’s just so they could blame some innocent opposition and make some cash.
David hicks was asked to join the democrats.

If they let them out please let everyone know what they look like, where they live, what they are doing to see to their own living and keep close tabs on who the hang out with ankle rfid tracking tags will work..
Or better yet give them a one way ticket back to the hell hole they got pulled out of after paying them .50 cents a day for their trouble.
Otherwise someone will be killed by their actions.

Yea because forcing women to walk around in black tents, genetial mutilation, madrasa aducation system, five prayers a day and sharia law is what every American wants!
Nothing like going back to the stone age.
That might just rank up as one of the stupidest worthless posts I have seen yet.
